Emilio Moro

In 2013, at Bodegas Emilio Moro we undertook a journey to a unique area such as El Bierzo, in search of a white grape that would allow us to make excellent wines like those of tempranillo. Our family enjoyed for years the peculiarities of the area, with which we ended up falling in love, and after years of research we discovered the possibilities of the godello grape to produce our white wines.

Thus were born our three visions of godello: Polvorete, El Zarzal and La Revelía. Years later, our project has expanded by launching onto the market Bestizo, our first red wine of the mencía variety.

Our vineyards are located in the heart of the Sil valley in the eastern zone with higher altitude and colder climate, both on the flat land and at the different heights of the hillside, which provides unique characteristics to each of our godellos. Likewise, we can find the vineyards where we produce Bestizo, our mencía, in Villafranca del Bierzo. The godello grape is ideal for producing white wines that are fresh and aromatic. A variety whose aromatic profile is complex and diverse but which is also characterized by maintaining a perfect balance between acidity and freshness, which has allowed us to produce great wines.

For its part, the mencía variety allows the production of excellent red wines, with primary aromas and soft, velvety wines of great quality. When young, they are fruity and very tasty. With aging, the wines obtain a good bouquet and a great personality. On the palate, they stand out for their balance and smoothness together with a marked character. Our godellos and mencías reflect the mineral purity of the soils of El Bierzo and the soul of a thousand-year-old region.
