101 km Pilgrims

The 101 Peregrinos is an ultradistance sporting event that combines sports, cultural, and tourist aspects in the El Bierzo region (León). It consists of completing 101 kilometers along a circular route, largely coinciding with the Winter Way of Saint James (Camino de Santiago de Invierno), within a maximum time of 24 hours.

The event offers several modalities to suit different disciplines and levels of difficulty:

  • BTT / E-Bike: 101 km route on a mountain or electric bike.
  • Ultramarathon: 101 km on foot (individual, pairs, or trios).
  • Marathon: Approximately 50 km on foot.
  • Gravel: New modality for Gravel bikes, with an adapted route.

Accessibility: No. A 101-kilometer ultradistance event over mountain paths and forest trails is not conventionally accessible for people with severe mobility limitations. It is an extreme endurance challenge in a natural environment.

  • On foot (Ultramarathon & Marathon): The route has significant elevation changes and uneven terrain requiring excellent physical condition; not suitable for wheelchairs or mobility scooters.
  • BTT / E-Bike: Not accessible due to the nature of the terrain.

👥 Capacity: In the 2024 edition, 1,500 participants took part. Previous editions have exceeded 2,000 participants, though numbers vary depending on modality and edition.
