ROUTE AND POINTS OF INTEREST
The route is a circular trail that can be extended and connected with other local paths. The original trail links Ponferrada with the heart of the Tebaida and key points of the Bercian monastic heritage:
- Start: The trail can begin at several points, but a common starting place is the Romanesque Church of Santa María de Vizbayo, at the entrance of Otero, or near the Puente Boeza in Ponferrada.
- Passing Points: The route crosses towns such as Otero, San Esteban, Villanueva de Valdueza, Valdefrancos, and San Clemente de Valdueza.
- Key Destination: The trail leads to the Monastery of San Pedro de Montes, an important monumental complex in the Valle del Silencio, the spiritual center of the Tebaida.
- Connections: It links with the Canal Romano CN-2, an ancient Roman engineering work that adds additional historical interest to the route.
- Parking: Starting and ending areas, such as Otero or Montes de Valdueza, have public parking with free access.
- Services: Bars or shops in towns along the route (Otero, Valdefrancos, San Clemente) follow their usual commercial hours.
